Direct-to-home(DTH) broadcasting is finally taking a shape in india -some four years after it was allowed.And it's growing as a fast clip.Essel group DTH has 460,000 subscribers and doordhasan's DD Direct+has 3 million.More service on the way.By mid 2006 ,Tata sky service would be available.

DTH is now matching cable rates in a bid to shift consumers.The setup cost for DTH is however,higher.

DTH offers many channels not available on cable,but it hasn't yet got all the popular ones.

The picture quality is better,but piracy is a problem.signal hacking is common in DTH the world over.

Billing,call centers and service centers are crucial part of the DTH offering .Cable losses out on device.
