A broken heart is common metaphor used to describe the intense emotional pain or suffering one feels after losing a loved one, through death, divorce, moving, being rejected, or other means.
Heartbreak is usually associated with losing a spouse or loved one, though losing a parent, child, pet, or close friend can also "break one's heart". The phrase refers to the physical pain one may feel in the chest as a result of the loss.
Most everyone has had to go through the pain of having a relationship end. It's never easy, but there is help if you're not feeling so well.
"A life with love will have some thorns, but a life without love will have no roses."
"The greatest pain that comes from love is loving someone you can never have."
"It hurts to breathe because every breath I take proves I can't live without you."
